WordPress complaint #1: Arrogance of data design
June 21st, 2007 by HenIgnoring the #0 parts in the previous post.
They default the blog to having a Hello World, a Blogroll of links, a Blogroll category that you can’t delete. All irritating and unnecessary. You have to start by deleting crap to get to a clean slate.
Roller has the same default Blogroll and default Categories, and I’m not a fan of that. One plus is that at least in Roller you can delete them all.

Yeah, the initial blogroll is really annoying. Something about linking to developer blogs and back to WordPress, plus the anti-IE browse happy banner really bugs me. The continued commercialization of WordPress is a bad trend too.
I also find the RSS feed of WordPress news on the dashboard annoying so I have a standard patch to remove it. Not sure how it’d go with WordPressMu though but it’s applied cleanly to a few updates so far. Grab it, along with a full description of what it does from http://www.symphonious.net/2007/03/03/another-wordpress-upgrade/
